The Emirates boss Arsene Wenger is convinced Pep Guardiola will become manager of Chelsea in the future. The former Barcelona manager wants to join a Premier League club after his hiatus from football.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Pep Guardiola would do very well at Stamford Bridge. In a recent press release the Frenchman explained that Chelsea would suit Pep Guardiola’s style perfectly.
Arsene Wenger and Pep Guardiola are believed to be close friends, in spite of the healthy rivalry they enjoy on the field. The 41-year-old Spaniard, who quit Barcelona in the summers of 2012, has been enjoying vacations with his family in New York for the past six months.
During this period Pep Guardiola has been linked to a number of top notch football clubs from all over Europe. Clubs such as AC Milan, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly some of the clubs that have inquired Pep Guardiola about his intentions this summer.
Reports from London suggest Pep Guardiola has been in talks with Chelsea. Rife speculation suggests Pep Guardiola would replace Chelsea’s interim manager Rafael Benitez at the end of the season.
Reportedly, Chelsea are willing to offer Pep Guardiola £80 million for his services. Following his four-year stay at Nou Camp, Pep Guardiola is eager to move into a richly financed club.
Chelsea’s billionaire owner Roman Abramovich is rumored to be a big fan of Pep Guardiola. Moreover, Pep Guardiola has been linked to the Chelsea job for years now. Even though Jose Mourinho used to be at the helm of the English club, Pep Guardiola could choose Chelsea as his new project.
“Is £80m too much for Chelsea? I don’t know, even for them, but I do see Pep working in this league,” Arsene Wenger informed. “He started with caviar at Barcelona, having all those world-class players to choose from.
“Will he get caviar again at Chelsea? Yes, I think he will. Like at Barcelona, he would have good players already there at Chelsea in his squad.
“Pep is a great manager, but, at the moment, Rafa Benitez is a great manager.”
