And then Aaron Hernandez went down mid-week two and everything changed. Back to the usual Wes we have come to know and love. In the slot, up the middle down the sideline; Wes Welker is one of the tightest route runners in football and he is so precise, it's unbelievable the Patriots would want to move away from him. He responded with an 8-reception, 148 yard game on Sunday Night Football - appeasing Coach Belichik, Tom Brady and fantasy owners alike. with Hernandez out until at least mid-October, Welker has an opportunity to prove, once again, why he has become so reliable.
His contract situation has been linked to his decreased playing time as they may be trying to phase him out for the cheaper option in Edelman, but everyone knows that Welker's talent level far surpasses that of Edelman. Brady knows it too - and he is thanking God every day that Welker is now on the field so he can continue to look for his trusty wideout when things aren't going well.
Fantasy owners will be pleased to know that his output should continue over the next few weeks at least -- so you may want to sell him high right now, because when Hernandez returns, no one knows what will happen with the talented Welker.
