At this point you've got to wonder what's next for UCLA in their bag of officiating tricks. Although, if this game came down to one or two whistles I would be stunned. This game presents another instance of the classic NCAA Tournament fan dilemma: bracket$ vs fun. UCLA has been one of the most popular title picks, but I bet more than 75 percent of those fans would gladly take a Western Kentucky victory. Then again, I didn't pick the Bruins, so that number is closer to 50.
Surprisingly, I think the Hilltoppers match up well with UCLA, at least as much as any 12-seed can hope. Tyrone Brazelton is just as quick as Darren Collison and Russell Westbrook. He may not have the size, but that hasn't gotten in the way yet.
Courtney Lee is more than capable of carrying the team on his back as a legit NBA talent. It'll be interesting to see who Ben Howland puts on him, with the likely answer being a combination of Josh Shipp, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute or even Russell Westbrook. Lee will need to best his 20 ppg average if WKU has a remote chance.
What I like most about Western Kentucky's "chances" are that Brazelton, Lee and first round hero Ty Rogers are all seniors. You'd prefer an amazing talent like Stephen Curry to help with a long run for the mid-majors, but experience is the next best attribute.
And when I say "chance," I mean very, very little. UCLA got it's wake up call last week and shouldn't allow this to stay close.
Interestingly enough, there's 13% of FanIQ picking the Hilltoppers with 76% predicting they'll beat the 12.5 spread.
Prediction: Bruins 80-68
