The Brooklyn Nets made Lawrence Frank the highest paid assistant coach in the NBA with a $6 million contract over 6 years. However, due to “different philosophies,” Jason Kidd demoted Frank from assistant coach to pretty much a video analyst. So, what really happened between Jason Kidd and Lawrence Frank?
Frank was at one time Jason Kidd’s coach. He was also brought on to the coaching staff due to his coaching experience and Kidd’s lack of coaching experience. However, it appears that Frank was increasingly overstepping his bounds during practices and games and Kidd grew increasingly insecure about it.
According to several reports, Kidd told Frank, "Sit the (bleep) down! I'm the coach of this (13-letter word) team! When you're on the bench, don't (bleeping) move!"
The tension grew so bad that it paralyzed Frank and according to other coaches, Frank became so quiet during recent games they thought he was ill.
Everyone knew that it would take some time for Kidd to adjust to his new role, but his first season as coach has gone south quickly. From one of the worst records in the league to demoting his assistant coach, the Nets have fallen to the bottom of the NBA barrel. And with the highest paid roster in the league, it is only a matter of time before Kidd is in the hot seat.

why would hire a rookie coach (with 0 experience at any level) to lead a win-now team? that move never made any sense to me. especially when you traded for garnett, pierce, and terry, you need a coach who can a tried-and-true system to integrate guys into to maximize everyone's talent. kidd was playing against these guys last season. in my opinion, kidd is the #1 reason for the nets' struggles, the team has no identity because he has no identity as a coach.
