What The Knicks Need To Do To Beat The Heat In The NBA Playoffs

For the Knicks to Beat the Heat...

There are some situations in which I love Landry Fields, but there are some situations in which I hate him. The series against the Heat falls under the latter. He simply can't guard Wade or LeBron, but he will still have an opportunity to contribute. The Knicks need Fields to come off the bench and stuff the stat sheet while the stars get some rest - hit some shots, move the ball, grab some boards, and play some D.
Baron Davis has been interesting to watch this season. Sometimes he looks like Boom Dizzle, sometimes he looks like Grandpa Davis. He's been fighting back and calf injuries all season, but now it's time to leave it all on the floor. He doesn't need to do anything spectacular, just move the ball and be smart with it - no stupid turnovers. Hitting the occasional open jumper and getting Amar'e going on the pick and roll could make a big difference.
Not much to say about JR Smith, just that the Knicks have to hope that he's good JR and not spontaneous-launch-pad JR.
And we all know Steve Novak will be draining threes the whole series.
If these players can give these contributions against the Heat, I like the Knicks to win this series. The problem, however, is that I don't know if we can count on all of them to play that way. We'll see tomorrow...
