About Me:
Born and raised in Delaware. Somehow, I've ended up in South Carolina. Life-long Phillies fan. In my "spare time" I work at THE USC for football and basketball games . (University of South Carolina for those who are west coast biased.) GO GAMECOCKS!

Yeah, 2008 has been a great sports year. And even though there are plenty of great stories this year - with Greg Norman providing yet another story to add to the list of greatness for 2008 - there are still many unanswered questions and issues out there in the sports world. With uncertainty still lingering, this sports fan wants to know the answer to one simple question: What would Brett Favre Do? (WWBFD?)
Problem/Issue: Michelle Wie Will Play In PGA Tour Event This Week in Nevada. Should sports fans care about Wie playing with the men again after her continued failure on the LPGA Tour?
Even though she was disqualified for not signing her scorecard this past Friday at an LPGA Tour event. Ironically, she was actually doing well in the tournament. I'm pretty sure she was so shocked by her success on the course that she didn't even think to sign the card. That or she figured that no one would believe the score so why even bother signing it. Who knows what was going through her mind, but should we be surprised by anything she does? The only thing that will surprise me of Michelle Wie over the next four years is if we see her in Playboy's Girls of the Pac-10 Issue.
WWBFD?: Nope, we shouldn't care about her playing with the men yet again. It's not like she's done anything in her career. If she wins three MVP's, then we should really start caring about what little Miss Thang does. Really, I think athletes should be allowed to do whatever they want, regardless of history. If she wants to play, let her play. Duh!
Problem/Issue: Fight Breaks Out In The Middle Of A WNBA Game. Is this a sign of the apocalypse or is it all Rick Mahorn's fault?
Wow. First the chicks dunk. And now they're brawling. There are so many bad "comments" and puns I could make here, that I'm just going to resist. Sometimes it's too easy.
Back to the matter at hand. What should we make of this brawl? Maybe it's just the Palace at Auburn Hills. Perhaps there's something in the water there that makes athletes want to scrap. The funny part of this is that after an NBA fight the players are worried about their reputations and street cred, yet after a WNBA fight the players are worried about the credibility of their league. I guess that's one reason to cheer for them. I like how Bill Laimbeer said that Mahorn was a "known peacemaker in the league". Wasn't he one of the Bad Boys? Yeah, thought so.
WWBFD?: Mahorn manhandles women? Weak, man. Really weak. I think that he should come out of retirement if he has that itch to get back in the arena. Honestly, he could probably still play. He obviously has that comepititive fire. He should unretire and then challenge Lisa Leslie to a game of one-on-one. Of course, after she gives him a beatdown, he'll probably have to re-retire. Now that I think about it, this might be the one time it's not a good idea to unretire.
Problem/Issue: Man with 0.491 Blood Alcohol Level Arrested. What the heck was this guy thinking?
OK, it's not sports related. But this is pretty amazing, sad, or impressive (depending on your point of view). I had to laugh out loud when I read this paragraph: Stanley Kobierowski was taken to a hospital, put in the detoxification unit and sedated, said Maj. Steven O’Donnell. He was arraigned Tuesday on charges of driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest, and he was released after promising to appear Friday at a court hearing.
I don't even know where to start, but I'll try here: Does a man with a 0.491 BAC really need to be sedated? Honestly, to me that sounds like a waste of drugs. That and I can't believe they even let this guy out of jail. He has some serious issues that need to be dealt with. I guess at least he didn't involve animals like the drunk German who rode a horse into a bank!
WWBFD?: Let me start by saying that this guy is so lucky he didn't hurt anyone else. WWBFD? does not condone drinking and driving. That being said, you have to love this guy's competitive nature. Rhode Island Police say they've never recorded a BAC Level that high before on a living person. He's the tops of all-time! I definitely think he should keep his competitive drive alive, however he should do it in a more constructive manner. Perhaps next time he'll try to set the world record for bean burritos eaten in one sitting. If he's going to put anyone at risk, it should be himself.
