As everyone in the sports world already knows (unless your living under a rock), last night's All-Star game ended at a ridiculous 1:37 am. Now I don't know about everyone else, but I was asleep long before the game ended. What Major League Baseball needs to learn from this 4 hour 50 minute game is that if they want ratings, don't start a scheduled 8:00 game at 8:45. Yes, the ceremony before was special and memorable (aside from the fact that not one Red Sox HOF member was in attendance), but why not move that to 7 or 7:30, so the game will actually start at a reasonable time??? It's no wonder that All-Star Game ratings are its worst ever. What working American person wants to stay up until 1 or 2 in the morning on a Tuesday (and into Wednesday) to watch a baseball game, then wake up early the next morning and go to work?
In my opinion, if the ASG is on the east coast, then start the game, not the pre-game ceremonies, at 8:00. For the sake of all the people from Chicago to New York City to Boston who don't want to stay up till all hours of the night to watch the ASG (I'm excluding the West Coast because it was only 10:37 there when the game ended), if the MLB plans on scheduling a game for 8:00, actually start it at 8:00!!! Your ratings might actually improve!
