What to do with Vick? What not to do: run West Coach offense
1/19/07

As you might expect, the recent Vick shenanigans haven't been met by the forgiving ears of local media. I'm not usually one to cheer AJC's Jeff Schultz opinions.  This time, I applaud Schultz for saying something in Atlanta that most people are afraid to say: It’s never pretty when arrogance and stupidity collide. With Vick, it has collided too often.

The diminishing potential of Michael Vick tomorrow is no longer worth the reality of Michael Vick today.

Say goodbye.

Now.

Arthur Blank talks about a “Falcon filter” that his players must pass through. Well, Mr. Blank, filter this: Your quarterback is no more ready to lead a football team to a Super Bowl than Jeff Spicoli was to lead the Ridgemont High debate team.

Vick has a $130 million contract. He has lucrative endorsement deals (pending) that alone could feed and clothe small countries. Yet, he tried to sneak a fake water bottle that appeared to have been used to conceal marijuana past airport security.

If you were forced to deal with this matter, how would you handle Mike Vick. Is he worth the risk and hassle?

Most folks forget that under Matt Schaub, the Falcons were pretty dern good.  My gut feeling is that Mr. Bland will give Vick at least one more chance -- if Vick doesn't go to jail first.  I say, good riddance.  The "almost fastest man in football", the "most exciting player in the NFL" and "1,000 yard rushing QB" show has run its course; sold a lot of jerseys; sold a few tickets; killed a couple of coaches.  Let's move on to the business of winning football games!
