There is no more "Monday Night Football" on Monday nights. There are no BCS Championship games tonight, nor even a measly Chick-Fil-A Bowl or Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl for your football watching enjoyment. There will no longer be any football whatsoever on Monday nights -- at least, not for another eight-and-a-half months. If there is no football on television or the Internet tonight, what do we do with ourselves? What sort of broadcast sports action is there to waste away our Monday night -- inherently the most not-happening and totally depressing of all the recurring weeknights?
Sure, there is the obvious "Get a life" or "Start dating someone" -- but for some of us, those are just not realistic options. Sports fans with Internet access and/or basic cable still have some killer games they can look forward to watching as their weekly reward for making it through one day the work week.
Monday Night College Basketball
ESPN will still schedule some Top 20 Men's NCAA Basketball every single Monday night until March Madness, and sometimes they've got a double-header. Like tonight, for instance, with No. 1 Louisville at UConn, followed by No. 4 Kansas at Baylor. The games are on your ESPN cable channel, and webcast online at WatchESPN (which requires you to have an active cable TV subscription).
Of course, "Top 20 teams" does not always mean both teams are in the Top 20. ESPN's Monday night NCAA basketball games do not feature both-ranked teams until the match-up of No. 6 Syracuse vs. No. 20 Notre Dame on Monday, February 4 (the day after the Super Bowl when you always call in sick). Who knows if either team will still be ranked by then.
Monday Night NBA Games
Tonight is pretty thin gruel (Pacers vs. Nets on NBA TV), but in upcoming weeks there are some really good Monday night NBA games on cable and for free on the Internet. Next week you've got a Spurs-Sixers followed by Lakers-Bulls, on TNT and free online at TNT Overtime. Most Monday nights, though, you'll get a pretty pedestrian game on NBA TV that might at least offer some regional or divisional interest for you.
Monday Night NHL Games
Oh yeah and plus NHL hockey is back which means Monday night hockey games, effective this coming Monday, Jan. 21 (the regular season begins Sat., Jan 19). There is hockey on TV, but only if you have the NBC Sports Network -- in which case, you have Red Wings-Blue Jackets on Jan. 21, and then recurring weekly Monday night games on either the NHL Network, TSN, or the NBC Sports Network.WWE Monday Night Raw
I understand that this program does something for some of you out there.
Monday Night TV Shows
There is often other non-sports programming on television as well. If you have cable, you know that you have "Bones", some "Real Housewives", and a new thing called "The Carrie Diaries" to watch on Monday nights. If you don't have cable, maybe you do the thing where you discreetly download a popular Sunday night show, and if so you know that Monday is when the good rips of last night's episode become available. If so, you'll want to make note that Game of Thrones" returns on March 31.

Next Monday 1/21 will either be Goergetown @Notre Dame in basketball or Red Wings @ Blue Jackets in NHL. I am guessing Red Wings since male roomate is huge fan of their's.
