Christian Eriksen, who has long been listed as a top priority target in Liverpool’s transfer list, is being linked to a number of Premier League clubs since the winter transfer window. The Demark international, who turns 21 on February 14, has already expressed interest in moving to and English club this summer.

According to sporten.dk, a dozen top notch European clubs are chasing Christian Eriksen. Liverpool appears to be leading the race with their bid set to arrive when transfer activity resumes this summer.

Club insiders at Ajax have also confirmed that Christian Eriksen is delaying the signing on a new contract because of increased interest from Liverpool. Ajax technical director Marc Overmars has also confirmed about the uncertain nature of Christian Eriksen’s future in the Eredivisie.

In a recent interview to sporten.dk Marc Overmars announced Christian Eriksen had refused to sign an extension contract with Ajax. Christian Eriksen’s current contract with Ajax ends in the summer of 2014.

“Christian has informed us that he doesn’t want to sign a new contract right now,” Marc Overmars said. “I think he and his agent want to see what opportunities present themselves this summer.”

“We want him to stay here for at least two more years, but the day he leaves us, he will be ready to play for the very best. He’s a player even the biggest clubs in the world could do with having in their squad.”

Christian Eriksen’s agent Martin Schoots has confirmed there is truth to all the transfer rumors the Danish midfielder has been linked with, however, he refused give details on the transfer saga.

“Anything Marc or Christian have said about it is correct, but we’ve agreed that we don’t want to talk about the speculation too much. Christian wants to focus solely on football and not so much on his future,” Martin Schoots said in BNB.

Back in October, Christian Eriksen acknowledged interest from top notch clubs across Europe. The attacking midfielder also confessed that he was flattered by the interest Liverpool has shown.

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have also been linked with a move for Christian Eriksen.
