There's really no point in anybody getting outraged about the 2013 New York Giants. The G-Men are very much so a 0-6 side, and they are improving little if at all before winter arrives. I, for the second consecutive week, have the Giants as the absolute dirt worst team in all of the NFL. Nobody agreed with me at that time.
Let's see if anything has changed.
Where the NY Giants are in Week 7 NFL power rankings: ESPN
The ESPN NFL writers saw no reason to put the Giants beneath the Jacksonville Jaguars in their latest power rankings. They mentioned this shocking stat: “Eli Manning has thrown an interception on 6.6 percent of passes, at least two percentage points worse than any season of his career and better than only Blaine Gabbert.” Manning obviously isn't the only problem with this team, but he has been far from good enough.
Where the NY Giants are in Week 7 NFL power rankings: CBS
Senior NFL columnist Pete Prisco was once again very kind to the Giants, putting them ahead of both Jacksonville and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Prisco, like the ESPN group, also put blame for the team's woes on Manning, saying that the New York QB is “trying to do too much.” Prisco isn't wrong there.
Where the NY Giants are in Week 7 NFL power rankings: Shutdown Corner
Frank Schwab, like Prisco, has the Giants at the 30 spot in his latest NFL power rankings. Schwab went so far to mention speculation regarding the franchise trading Manning. That's not happening. It's not even an option this fall.
Where the NY Giants are in Week 7 NFL power rankings: FOX
You're not winning football games when you routinely turn the ball over. FOX analyst and former head coach Brian Billick points this out in putting the Giants at 31st: “The Giants have now had at least three turnovers in all six games this season. That's bad.”
Where the NY Giants are in Week 7 NFL power rankings: Pro Football Talk
“How can a team with so many good players be so bad?” asked PFT Mike Florio en route to putting the Giants as second-worst in his list. Maybe New York just doesn't have that many good players. They certainly don't at RB, LB and up front on both sides of the football.
Where the NY Giants are in Week 7 NFL power rankings: New York Daily News
The Giants escape the basement of NFL power rankings for another week. Hank Gola kept New York at 30th after the team's loss to the Chicago Bears. Gola went so far to suggest that Big Blue could earn win number one of the campaign against the lowly Minnesota Vikings this coming Monday night. That could be an ugly, ugly football game.
Once again, the NFL power rankings that I review on a weekly basis have the Giants in the 30-31 range. No disrespect to any writers mentioned in this piece, but I'm left wondering if people are remembering the franchise's recent success when rating the Giants. Only when New York beats anybody will I have faith in the team's ability to do so. This is statistically the worst Giants team of my lifetime.
