The New York Giants have seen better days. Even the most optimistic fan of the team would have to admit this. One week after New York gave the ball away six times in a loss to the Dallas Cowboys, the team's defense was lit up by Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos at home. Big Blue supporters will be hoping that New York's worst stretch of the season is well behind the team. That had better be true, or else the Giants can forget about flirting with a .500 record let alone earning a playoff spot in 2013.

Brian Billick dropped the Giants four spots down to 24 in his NFL power rankings. He mentions the fact that quarterback Eli Manning is currently on pace to throw 56 interceptions this season. While Eli absolutely must do better at keeping the football out of the hands of opposing players, he also hasn't been nearly as bad as some have suggested.

Like Billick, the ESPN staff dropped the G-Men four spots in NFL power rankings. Somehow, however, New York is still 20th in the website's list. That puts the Giants ahead of five teams who have thus far earned one victory.

“Ten turnovers in two games says it all.” That's how CBS Sports NFL Insider Pat Kirwan described the Giants, who are in the 22 spot in his power rankings. To compare, Kirwan has the Washington Redskins at 23, the Philadelphia Eagles at 16, and the Dallas Cowboys at 13.

The Giants are once again 22nd, this time in NFL power rankings produced by Detroit Lions beat writer Justin Rogers. Rogers, unlike the previously mentioned Billick, gives Manning a little bit of a break. While he did state that Manning is “forcing a ton of bad throws,” Rogers first pointed out that the team's rushing attack has been non-existent.

New York is nothing if not consistent when it comes to Week 3 NFL power rankings. The Daily News also has the Giants at 22. Like Kirwan from CBS Sports, Hank Gola has both the Eagles and Cowboys ahead of Big Blue.

A Giants blog was not, in fact, the most kind to the team among the list of power rankings mentioned in this piece. BBV put New York at 21, stating, in the process, that the Giants “have a lot of problems.” That could be an understatement, especially if New York loses in Carolina this coming Sunday.
When you average it out using the power rankings mentioned above, the Giants fall to about 22nd in the league. I wasn't as generous when putting together my list. I have New York at 23rd after the second week of the 2013 campaign.
