Tim Tebow trade talk -- Where will Tebow Time travel to?
Our deepest consolations and sympathies also go out to Denver's incumbent starting quarterback Tim Tebow. Tebow is now the odd man out in Denver, and ESPN reports that the Broncos are looking to trade Tim Tebow.
"Once the Manning deal becomes official, Denver will try to trade Tim Tebow," reports ESPN's dynamic duo of Adam Schefter and Chris Mortenson.
Tebow is a starting quarterback who went 7-4 last season. Denver ought to get quite a bounty of high draft picks or quality players in return for Tim Tebow, right?
"I'd be surprised if he went for much better than a fifth rounder," former Redskins GM Charley Casserly told USA Today.
"Tim Tebow will either be traded or released in the near future," said NFL Network analyst Michael Lombardi.
A fifth rounder? Released? For a quarterback who just won the AFC West division and a playoff game, being released would be as humiliating for Tim Tebow as the Friar Tuck hair cut the Broncos gave him during his rookie hazing.
Adding to the degree of disrespect, the Broncos reportedly "do not care" what they get in return for a Tim Tebow trade, according to CBS Sports.
Tebow's fans do care, though, as should quarterback-needy NFL teams. Tim Tebow trade rumors are already beginning to bubble up, so where might the unconventional quarterback take his services and his biblically-inscripted eye black?
Tim Tebow to the Jacksonville Jaguars - Online sports books are listing the Jaguars as the odds-on favorite to trade for Tebow. Tebow grew up in Jacksonville, won two NCAA championships with the not-too-distant Florida Gators, and remains immensely popular in the area. The Jaguars, on the other hand, are not immensely popular in the area. CNBC reports that Jacksonville had the second-worst attendance of any NFL team in 2011, and that Jaguars officials are confident they "could immediately sell out the season" by adding Tebow to their roster.
Tim Tebow to the Miami Dolphins - It makes no football sense for the Dolphins to trade for Tim Tebow -- he's a terrible fit for the Dolphins' new West Coast Offense. But the Dolphins are a Florida team also with attendance problems, and last season even held a "Gator Day" honoring Tebow in an attempt to sell tickets.
Tim Tebow to the New England Patriots - The guy who drafted Tebow No. 25 overall, former Denver coach Josh McDaniels, is now New England's offensive coordinator. And who better to scheme gadget plays for Tebow's unconventional style than evil genius Bill Belichick?
Feel free to start Tebowing and getting excited about the possibility of a gimmicky new quarterback, NFL fans. But this time, it's probably not a good idea to get a Tim Tebow tattoo featuring your favorite team's helmet.
