A week ago Ozzie Guillen threw everyone affiliated with the White Sox organization under the bus, demanding changes from GM Kenny Williams or he'd do it himself. Ozzie got the big changes he demanded - Chicago's South Siders have started hitting, finally, and in a big way.
9, 6, 6, 10, 11 and 12 runs scored on Sunday to cap off a six game winning streak since the latest managerial blow up. Nick Swisher has a seven game hitting streak raising his batting average up to .221. Still miserable, but considering where it's been, they'll take it from one of the team leaders.
Last summer it was Lou Piniella's on-field tirade that turned the Cubs season around in a playoff berth. Will it work for Ozzie?
Sox 12, Twins 2
How Bad Are the Nats? Barry Zito gave up 7 hits, 4 walks and still got the win. Giants 6, Nationals 3
Harden to Hit Mark Ellis should get the headline for hitting a walk-off grand slam, but I was more impressed by Rich Harden striking out the side in the first inning on 9 pitches. That hadn't been done since Pedro for Boston in '02. It should be noted that Ellis' GS is his second such walk-off in just over a month. A's 7, Athletics 3
Maybe Joba Should Try A 'Stache Chamberlain's second start went much better than his first - 4 1/3 innings, 5 hits and 2 earned runs on 78 pitches, but it's hardly where they'd like him to be. We suggest he grown a Giambi-stache (if he can?) because that appears to be the magic touch for Jason. Yet another home run on Sunday, his 14th of the season, 4th in the last 10 games. Yankees 6, Royals 3.
