Well, it has come to light that Orlando Cabrera has called up to the press box during games to plead his case that two errors charged to him be reversed to hits. I understand that any evidence that professional athletes are selfish shouldn't surprise me, but this really irks me. OC is a free agent after this season and it appears that that is all he cares about at this point. The Sox are off to a pretty good start and OC seems to be bouncing back from a horrendous beginning of the season, so maybe the lure of big bucks in the off-season is what he needs to motivate him, but as Ozzie Guillen pointed out, it doesn't look good to his teammates.
I hate to sound like some goof, but I do like the idea of my team having good chemistry and a fun clubhouse. Yes, it shouldn't matter as long as they win, but I'm one of those dopes that feels that a good clubhouse leads to a good season. I don't want to see this rent-a-player torpedo a promising season. We'll see what happens from here on out. It wouldn't surprise me to see him traded if this escalates.
