However, after beginning the season 0-3, they were slated to play the Green Bay Packers, who were fresh off the most controversial loss in recent memory. Regardless of the result, whether the Saints defeat the Packers or fall victim once again, an 0-4 or 1-3 record is not how they envisioned beginning their season.
Drew Brees hasn't been the Brees of old, their run game has been inconsistent, and most of all, their defense has been porous. Without leadership and consistency in the coaching booth, the Saints have been unable to find each other on the same page defensively. For a franchise that values themselves as one of the top teams in the league, they have not been able to convince those watching them. They appear ill-prepared at times, and others they look like the Saints of old, clicking on all cylinders.
So the question begs? Who dem Saints? Will we see NOLA rebound over the course of the season and return to postseason form? Or will we continue to see them underperform (to their standards) and fall off the map in a much more competitive NFC South? Brees is obviously key, but the weapons are there for him and the high powered offense to succeed. But if the defense continue to lag behind, the Saints might not recover in time to save their season.
