What's up???
I hope everyone is doing well this sunny Wednesday. Well, it's sunny where I am. Hey, I was making trivia questions and I came across this article regarding one of my favorite players from my favorite baseball team....the Los Angeles Angels. This is what it said....
Angels decline option on Garret Anderson
Alex Gallardo / Los Angeles Times
Garret Anderson played 14 seasons with the Angels and is the franchise's career leader in numerous categories including games (2,013), runs (1,024), hits (2,368) and RBIs (1,292).
The team picks up options on Vladimir Guerrero and John Lackey, but Anderson, the longest-tenured Angel, becomes a free agent.
Garret Anderson has played more games as an Angel than anyone else. But now it looks as if he won't play another. The team announced Tuesday that it would not be picking up Anderson's $14-million option for 2009, leaving the 36-year-old outfielder's future with the franchise in doubt after 14 seasons.
Well, I had a sinking feeling in my stomach. You know how you feel when you hear bad news from a relative? Yeah, that was how hard it hit me. I miss the days when I could sit on my couch and relish the plays of my favorite players,Tim Salmon, Garret and Darin and my other favorites are/were Benjie Molina, Orlando Cabrera, Chone Figgins,Vlady (and everyone in baseball knows who that is? ),Lackey and sooooooooooooooooo many more but the first 3 are my all-time favorites.
What do these poor baseball players go through when they are not signed to the teams they have been loyal to for over 10 years and then some? I would prolly crawl under my bed and cry if that was me. I would take it so personal.
Then I read another article that said they (the managers and higher-ups) are not even making a big deal outta Garret getting this $3 million dollar contract (and possibly leaving in the near future).
I mean to me that is like when you have a job and they cut your hours all the way from 40 a week to 8. I have had that happen and when it did ....I quit and moved on. That is what they wanted me to do........is that what they want Garret to do???? I mean what's realllllllllllllllllllllly going on here?????
Thanks for listening to me and would someone please pour me a stiff one? Because now, I only have ONE favorite player to watch......but for how long??? Oh, I forgot to tell you that Darin is with the Houston Astros and my Tim Salmon has retired (2006).
