Owen Daniels is apparently out for the year now. Looks like probably tore his ACL. Daniels was having a tremendous season, so this is bad news for the Texans. At least, I think it is. I honestly have no clue who is back Daniels up. Does anyone think the back TEs can fill Daniels' role? Or are the Texans now looking like they could be finished?
His back up is Joel Dreessen, and they have a couple of promising rookies. Will any of them take the place of Owen Daniels? No. Dreessen is not Daniels, but he does show promise, along with the rookies. I think an equally important question is "Can Gary Kubiak and (OC) Kyle Shanahan adapt their offensive scheme to better suit Daniels' replacements?" If they can, I think we'll see more contributions from guys like Kevin Walter, David Anderson, Jacoby Jones, and even Steve Slaton. Is losing Owen Daniels a huge blow? Yes, it is. But can the Houston Texans overcome it? Yes, they can.

Dreessen and then maybe the guy that just came back from swine flu....Anthony Hill? All they have to do is catch a ball and black. We can only hope they can come as close to the great O.D.

Unless they sign someone, it will be Dressen and Hill only for this weekend's game against Indy, because the other rookie TE, James Casey, just had arthroscopic surgery. They're hoping he'll be back for the Titans game, that follows after the Colts and then the bye week. Casey has played more than Hill, so he'll probably move ahead of Hill once he's cleared to play.

I think Dressen is the real deal too. Call me crazy but I think he will be pretty good as O.D.'s replacement.
