Who Will Win New York Giants 3rd Wide Receiver Spot?
Domenik Hixon might be slated as the favorite to at least start the season at the third wide receiver spot, but can he stay healthy? Hixon has missed the past two seasons with ACL tears, and he is extremely valuable on special teams. If Hixon stays healthy he will have an impact on both special teams and offense. While Hixon may start the year as the favorite, that may not last for long. The Giants are very high on Rueban Randle, who they deem as NFL ready. Randle has had an outstanding camp based on all reports, and had the best performance of any of the candidates.
Ramses Barden is having his usual exciting training camp, but can he finally put it all together in a game? When given an opportunity to play during the regular season last year, Barden struggled getting separation. If Barden can put it together, his height would be a welcomed threat to an already loaded offense. Jerrel Jernigan, another youngster needing a good showing, has had a good camp as well. He has struggled to hold on to the ball, and is likely to make his biggest contributions on special teams.
Prediction: Hixon starts the year as the third wide out, with Randle getting more and more snaps as the season goes on.
