Who should Replace Peterson as the Chief's GM?
READ MORE:
NFL

Carl Peterson's 20 year reign as the Kansas City Chief's general manager went out with a whimper today.  Peterson, who
amassed a 176-141-1 record while at the Chief's helm, won four AFC West championships and took the team to the AFC Championship game in 1993.  Well...not much has happened since and that is why Carl has been shown the door.  The Chiefs have not won a playoff game since 1994.  For a team that is considered to have one of the best home field advantages in the league, this is a joke, especially considering that the Chiefs have had three 13-3 seasons. Carl thanks for your 176 wins and leaving the current 2-12 team a complete mess now get back to the east coast where you belong.

The real question is who will be the next GM?

Initial leading candidates have to be Marty Schottenheimer and Bill Cowher, both Chief alums.

Marty Schottenheimer arrived in Kansas City in 1989 and in 10 years as head coach of the Chiefs, Marty  finished 1st or 2nd in the AFC West every season except for one...his last.  He also took a perpetual doormat with only two winning seasons in the franchises previous 15 years to a contender with nine straight winning seasons in his first nine years as coach.  Peterson and various rumors about bartenders in Kansas City which I will not bring up on this site chased Schottenheimer out of town.  No one has achieved the same level of success in KC, leading many people to embrace Marty's return to Arrowhead.

Bill Cowher - what can you say... Everyone loves the fiery attitude of "the Jaw" and no one can question his success, but is he willing to leave the broadcast booth?  Bill spent three years as the Chief's defensive coordinator from 1989-1991.  He then moved on to become the Steelers coach in 1992.  In 15 seasons, the Steelers captured eight division titles, earned ten postseason playoff berths, played in 21 playoff games, advanced to six AFC Championship games and made two Super Bowl appearances, winning it all in 2005.

Clark Hunt, time to open up the checkbook and get this taken care of before Cleveland makes the choice for you...

Any other thoughts??????
