Despite being one of the top players in the league Melo has been unable to carry his Knicks team to a deep run in the playoffs. The top teams in the east are easily the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers. If the Knicks couldn't get by them last year, a team that was clearly better than that of this year's, how can they expect to win this year?

The Knicks' front office needs to take a page out of the Denver Nuggets' book and deal their star player before he runs out of town when you could have received a pretty nice package for a player of Melo's stature. I don't believe Melo is as loyal to New York as people believe he is. He has been in the league ten years and will want to be a part of a winning organization before his best playing days are behind him. It would be prudent of the Knicks to swallow their pride and prove to the desperate fans of New York that they share a passion for winning by getting quality players and or picks for Carmelo Anthony.

This draft looks to be loaded with NBA talent and the Knicks should be looking for a lottery pick in their trade talks, if they decide to cut Melo loose. Mike Woodson should be gone too. It is time for a big time head coach to come to New York. One that can reset the mood of frustrated fans. Hopefully James Dolan and company can make New York City basketball relevant again.
