The Devil Rays have set a new franchise record for wins in a season, and it's a record that they will undoubtedly extend quite a bit. They won their 71st game of the season on Sunday, and they aren't even close to being finished. They are on pace to finish with 98 wins, and could possibly enter the triple digits before the season is over. It's a bit unlikely, because they have a tough remaining schedule, but any remaining doubters should be gone by now, because this team is definitely for real.

In their record-setting win, Willie Aybar was the offensive catalyst. He had 2 HR and 4 RBI's in the 11-4 beating they put on Seattle. Shawn Riggans also homered and had 3 RBI for the Rays. Edwin Jackson pitched 7 innings to earn his 9th win of the season. The Rays are a half game ahead of the Cubs for the 2nd best record in baseball.

The Rangers also had a big day. 5 players had multiple RBI's, including Ian Kinsler (5-6, 3 RBI), Josh Hamilton (3-6, 3 RBI), Marlon Byrd (4-6, 4 RBI), Travis Metcalf (2-6, 2 RBI) and Jason Ellison (2-4, 2 RBI). The final score was Rangers 15, Orioles 7. The Rangers got 20 hits off of 5 Orioles pitchers, including 3 HR's.

Brian Giles must be glad he's not in Boston. While the Sox lost to the White Sox 6-4, Giles went 4-6, with 4 runs, 4 RBI and a HR to lead the Padres to a 16-7 win over the Rockies. Jody Gerut, Kevin Kouzmanoff and Luke Carlin also homered for the Padres.
