If you're a tennis fan, today's matches were about as good as it gets. Unless of course, you're a big fan of Andy Roddick and Serbian Tennis Babes. This morning featured a five hour, five set thriller that sent Novak Djokovich into the semifinals with a win over Marcos Baghdatis. This afternoon featured the good Andy Roddick and then of course the bad. Unfortunately it happened in precisely that order. Andy went up two sets to none on Richard Gasquet, but lost his edge losing the final three sets 7-6, 7-6, 8-6. I don't know how much to fault A-Rod, Gasquet had some of the best shots I've seen in quite a while at Wimbledon. Just was flat out beat by a better game today.
The worst news, was that Ana Ivanovic will no longer be gracing our television sets. That is sad. If there's any consolation, it's that there's at least one American left as Ivanovic was sent packing by Venus Williams.
Her finals opponent, Marion Bartoli, pulled off the biggest upset of the tournement beating Justine Henin 1-6, 7-6, 6-1. When I say Henin hates wind, that's an understatement.
Looks like our weekend excitement will be a Nadal-Federer rematch in the finals as they both cruised through opponents today.
