Eventually, several passers-by mistook the hardware for a (gasp!) ash tray, and used it as such.
At first I was appalled, but the article comforted me a bit when they mentioned how King Clancy used the Cup as a cigar ash tray all summer long in 1927... So I guess it's... o...k?
Ah well, when all is said and done, it's still definitely certain that this is not even close to the worse thing that has happened to our good pal, Stanley.
At least he got a chance to work on his tan.
