It seems that the Winnipeg Jets are in the process of completing all of the formalities of moving to another city.

The former Atlanta Thrashers club was relocated to Winnipeg and despite not changing the original “Winnipeg” name, the have added a new logo to the outfit. The logo is impressive, to say the least, with the Winnipeg Jets management is willing to make a fresh start.

Establishing a partnership with Reebok and NHL, the Jets unveiled their new logo, which seems to be inspired by the emblem of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Upon closer look, there appears to be a maple leaf beneath the fighter jet plane and it looks rather good in the entire setup.

"Our desire was to authenticate the name and make it as meaningful as we possibly could", stated the Jets co-owner Mark Chipman.

Before the new owners revealed the new logo to the fans and media, the top management was unsure of whether everyone would like the newly designed logo. Should they fail to attract fans, they might put the club’s newly established reputation at stake and they had a tough decision to make before the unveiling. However, the logo has been received well and it is believed that despite the fact that the old logo had its own sentimental value, the new logo brings about a new start for the franchise.

"True North Sports & Entertainment felt it was important for the new Winnipeg Jets to develop a strong new identity. We felt it was important to authenticate the name Jets and we believe the new logo does that through its connection to (Canada's) remarkable Air Force heritage, including the rich history and relationship that our city and province have enjoyed with the Canadian Forces,” stated the chairman.

No sooner that the logo was unveiled at the MTS Centre than fans from all parts of the city wanted to get their hands on the merchandise and lines were formed outside all the outlets around the area.

Some fans still believe that the old logo should’ve been retained, but the management believes that relocation brings about a new start and new start should have a new logo. Winnipeg will be playing their first season in the NHL in 10 years and play Montreal Canadians in October. The match promises to be a cracker and is something no one would want to miss.

Really cool. Will buy a tee for myself.

Like the new colors too. Hopefully the uni's will have less red than the old ones.

I kind of like it. I loved the old logo but I understand the need for a change. I seriously doubt the old throwback jerseys will ever go down much in sales though...they may even go up now, having a team back. Fans love that ish.

I know why they did it, but having the Maple Leaf on the logo so prominently links them to the Toronto NHL club.
