Back For More Snow-Related Sports Goodness [Winter Olympics Live Thread]

Because I have no clue how NBC is tape-delaying stuff, even though I'm in the same time zone as the Olympics, and the morning brought us such obscure sports as the Nordic Combined and the biathlon, you could probably care less about this live thread being late. This evening comes the good stuff anyway. Figure skating, men's moguls, luge and Bob Costas' horribly dyed hair.

Unfortunately, men's and women's downhill has gotten pushed back due to terrible weather, but hey, it'll be here eventually.

Enjoy the games, and feel free to chat them up here.

Why didn't you start one?  Oh BTW, the NBA All-Star Game happens every year, the Olympics don't, and I'd be willing to bet more people would rather watch the Olympics than an all-star game.

Good for you Kramer. Agree totally. Would rather watch my country compete any day!!!

Kramer won in 6Min's, 14.60sec, setting an Olympic record to defeat South Korean Lee Seung-Hoon by 2.35sec with Russian Ivan Skobrev third in 6:18.05. Some very awesome skating, I did not enjoy the guy cutting himself with his own skate or the guy dying in the bob sled but now the down hill sledding was awesome!

Didn't know I could start one on the main page or else I would have. And so what if the Olympics don't happen every year... there is a reason why any right-thinking human being only watches figure skating, ski jumping, bobsledding and the biathalon once every four year... cause it's BORING.

There are over 100,000 in the seats to watch the all-star game. And there's a reason why there is a NBA All-Star game every year and not ever four years... cause it's BETTER than 99.99% of the olympic sports.

But hey, you go ahead and watch pairs figure skating if you want to. I'm going to check out LeBron, D-Wade, Dwight Howard  and many others do something much more exciting.

Everyone has different opinions and are entitled to them bludevil, I am sure there are many that would have been interested in participating in your ALL STAR THREAD. This is not the one, so if you need help with learning how to make a live thread I am sure one of those mods, writers so on so forth would be glad to help just send them a message. But you can not come in and high jack a thread or knock around the mods  that might lead to some hot water!  Giggles they all very co operative just send them a message.  I watched the introductions and fell asleep quickly I am old though ... lol hagd

Thats a private message, where you can discuss stuff that is not needed here in someones opinion. That is also where you tell your friends hello or whatever else you would not put into chat.  When you send a message saying what I think you said really sucks in private so you do not make anyone look like a fool or hurt feelings

I'm not reaming you out for not writing a thread, simply telling you not to put it solely on the mods and writers, which is exactly what you did.  This isn't the place to bicker though, so again if you have any other concerns, take it to PM like I asked with my last comment so this thread can be kept about the Olympics, thank you.

What's PM?

I'm not bitching about the thread.. I'm just curious why the mods and admins and whomever decided to have a winter olympics live thread and not one for the NBA all-star game. I thought this would be the best place for me to wonder that thought in writing, rather than sending an email that might go unanswered. Besides, if you didn't reply to me the thought would have been dead after one post, instead of now spilling on into 3-4 posts.

It's not as if I was going to come into this thread over and over to somehow bash the winter olympics.

*For clarification purposes only*

FanIQ Moderators have nothing to do with creating articles, threads, etc. to produce traffic on the site.

For how long you've been here, you might've caught that the lead editor in 100%InjuryRate and Pat are kind of in control of this thing, as everything goes through either one of them. If you want a live thread of something you feel has been ignored, then create it, send a link to all of your friends, including one of those two, and I have no doubt it would have been featured - I say would have, as it's 11:15pm now, and the game is over, but works for future purposes too.

Congrats!!! I'm sure that is a huge thrill, finally getting one of your countrymen to win gold on your home soil. I'd be psyched if that was the same situation for the USA.

It needed to be addressed by someone.  Don't put it on the mods and writers for not writing a thread.  Did you ever consider the fact that maybe none of them actually watched it, or if they did they didn't think a thread would be worth putting up because nobody would comment on it?  If you have any more problems, I will gladly address it in PM, but don't even blame the mods because nobody wrote an article when you are able to write an article just the same as everyone else.

I'm not blaming anyone. I'm merely asking a question. And yeah, I considered the fact that none of them watched it or that they thought putting up a thread might not be worth the time... but though I considered that I wanted to actually see a post from one of them on it, thus I posted.

And as I already said once, clearly, and for the record, I had no idea that I could start a live thread of my own and get it on the "Best Of" page... otherwise I would have done so. So quit trying to ream me out for creating a live thread article when I've already told you that I didn't know I could do that. Now I know, so thanks for pointing it out to me.

And I've got a ton more problems... like why does the state of AZ only take a percentage of federal withholding instead of their own witholding rate? I'll get to filling up your inbox with all my problems, thanks for the offer of help.

I don't watch figure skating, but I will gladly watch the Olympics over a bunch of show-offs, which is exactly what the NBA is.  Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it's kind of a pain when someone comes into a thread for a certain sport only to bitch and complain about that sport.  You can write an article whenever you want, nobody is stopping you, but PLEASE don't come into a thread just to bitch about it.

Yeah, it was taped by a few minutes. I was following it on the Olympic website. NBC started today OK with live nordic combined and biathlon, but since then it's been more NBC fail.

Apparently it is since Jesse's comment seems to be posted some 20 minutes before I saw the winning moment, so we're not even "live."  Bravo, NBC.

2/14/10   |   kramer   |   11004 respect

I know that, but the only thing I saw was that Australia was on the podium.  I heard the story, but forget about him tonight.  Let him be on that podium with a silver medal around his neck while they're playing O Canada for the gold medalist.

Congrats Canada!  He had a perfect performance, and the leader completely f'd up his final jump and didn't even make the podium.  Canada, Australia, and USA on the podium.

2/14/10   |   kramer   |   11004 respect

The Americans failed in men's moguls.  One got off course in the mid section, and the next guy landed on his ass on the 2nd jump landing and took out 1 of the flags.

That Nordic Combined race was pretty intense. US gets its first ever medal in the event.

Meanwhile, women's 3000m speedskating is going on, and an American just took the lead, yet NBC is showing a taped interview. NBC was doing so well today with the live stuff (apologizes to west coast people) until now.
