USA Hoping They Have The Stones To Turn Things Around [Winter Olympics Live Thread]

2/17/10 in Olympics, Summer   |   Pat   |   5222 respect

Yesterday was a rough day for Team USA curling, as the men's team lost twice, and the women lost as well. Today, the ladies will try to rebound against Germany. That's on USA right now.

Today's sports:
Alpine Skiing
Cross-country Skiing
Curling
Figure Skating
Hockey
Luge
Speed Skating
Snowboarding

If you're watching, chat it up here. And yes, I love curling. That's why you'll see so many curling pictures and mentions from me. On one last note, USA! USA! USA!

Wow, bronze medalist in downhill is a 2nd generation Olympic medalist, cool!

2/17/10   |   Chief_aka_James   |   3292 respect

I thought there was no way he could land that final trick, he had no speed - somehow that sh*t was landed though, crazy.

Good day for U.S.

2/17/10   |   kramer   |   11004 respect

He landed the big trick and his score went up on run #2, this man is unbelievable.

2/17/10   |   kramer   |   11004 respect

That's it, he doesn't even have to do his second run.  Just go down and show off, Shaun.

2/17/10   |   kramer   |   11004 respect

They're all trying to outdo White and they keep falling down...moral of the story, Shaun White owns you.

To be fair i think he was only conservative on his last trick.

Right, the whole run wasn't conservative with the two double-corks, but the rest of the tricks, he's been bigger/better with them.

Conservative and his score is still 4 points higher than everyone else, that's insane.

Being they just take the best run out of two, it doesn't matter what Shaun does in his second run - unless of course someone tops him.

I don't believe it. As much as I love watching this sport, it's getting sickening to watch the US.

From down 0-4 after two ends, to come back like this is extraordinary. Almost guaranteeing a win or at least an extra end being up 6-4 in the 9th right now.

I got home from work just in time for the end of the cross country. What was up with that Slovenian woman who went to the hospital earlier in the day, but still came back to win bronze?

She had a nasty crash going wide on a turn and that area didn't have a gate or anything - so she flew into a ditch, hitting a tree and hurting her back. It was a pretty nasty crash, one I'm sure you'll find online somewhere.

2/17/10   |   Chief_aka_James   |   3292 respect

Not a good start at all for the US team here against the Swiss - have the benefit of the hammer in the 2nd end, and still drops a point. 3-0 Swiss.

Great finish to the mens X country - now time for the men's curling and a hopeful US win.

And Cheryl Barnard DOES it, of course

I don't understand all of the art of curling but it is interesting.  The USA could have done a lot better than they did.  I don't have a lot of time to watch right now as I'm in college online.  Ireally enjoy someone keeping up for me.  ee

The Canadian women's team is playing the Japanese team, and was losing 3-2, but the Japanese team just made an error on a peel and sent the rock right thru the rings - Canada just needs to capitalize on the opportunity.

Oh, and before I forget.....GO CANADA!!!!
