"When everyone was persecuting Jesus, someone had to stand with him," says a Jerry Sandusky supporter

As Jerry Sandusky's child molestation trial continues, it's almost unanimous that this guy is a total scumbag, and should be in prison for the rest of his life.

Unless there are somehow several dozen people who inexplicably have it out for this guy and have managed to adeptly corroborate their stories, he has clearly participated in some of the most atrocious acts we've seen from anyone in the sports world for a while.

One woman, however, says Sandusky is a saint, and even compares him to Jesus Christ.

No matter what your religious beliefs are, I think it's safe to say that most people agree that at the very least, Jesus was a pretty good guy. Even if you don't believe he's the son of God, pretty much every historical account makes him out to be a very decent person, at the absolute worst.

According to Joyce Porter, her support for Sandusky is similar to those who supported Christ when he was being crucified.

No, seriously.

"When everyone was persecuting Jesus, someone had to stand with him," says Porter.

She also refers to Sandusky as "a saint" and "a wonderful guy."

You can read Dan Wetzel's article on Yahoo to get the full details of all the ways she tries to justify Sandusky's behavior, which ranges from mildly creepy to downright deplorable. The more you hear testimony from the witnesses, the more disturbing the story becomes.

I'll give Porter some credit for her loyalty to Sandusky, but at some point, it might be time to realize that he was hiding something from her and most other people in his life.

However, there comes a time when you have to look at the facts and realize that you might be wrong.

When asked what would convince her that he actually committed these horrific acts, she says "Not unless he himself would say, 'I did this.' "

Sorry, Joyce Porter, but it seems as though you're allowing your relationship to cloud your judgment on this one. And at the end of the day, this is a terrible thing to be so wrong about.

For everyone's sake, I hope she's right, and that none of these things ever happened. But that sure seems unlikely.
