World Series Game 1 Live Thread: Philadelphia Phillies vs New York Yankees
Shield Your Eyes, Indians Fans. Everyone Else, Enjoy Lee And Sabathia. [World Series Game 1 Live Thread]
Sorry, Indians fans. I had to mention it. As I'm sure you've already heard from several different sources, today's World Series game features two of the best left handed pitchers in baseball, and coincidentally two former Cy Young winners for the Indians.

CC Sabathia starts for the Yankees, and Cliff Lee will take the mound for the Phillies. Both have been outstanding so far in the playoffs, allowing 5 runs combined over 47 total innings.

The game starts at 7:57 pm ET , and you can catch it on FOX. 66% of FanIQ users picked the Yankees to win tonight. If you're watching the game, this is the place to talk about it from start to finish. This should be a great series, and this game looks like a great start. Chat it up all night, and enjoy the game!

I prefer the 10-minute long anthems sung by pop stars who were popular 4 years ago. Bonus if they forget the lyrics.

Did anyone else notice when the Phillies starters were announced they came out and high five, or fist bumped there other teammates. But the Yankees starters were announced they didn't so much as look towards there backups. What's up with that.

Well... the Yankees are a group of arrogant pricks with a ridiculous sense of entitlement... obviously.

Great start for Lee. This is what the Phillies do, they make the pitcher go deep in the count. They're already getting to C.C, hopefully that trend continues

You know I thought the same thing but I wasn't going to say it, but not showing sportsmanship towards your opponent is one thing when you don't show it towards your own teammates, give me a break.

Everybody keeps talking about the Phillies being arrogant, but after all, THEY are the defending champions, not the Yankees

Who said the Phillies were arrogant?

Chase Utley is great. That is all.

Look dude don't be a TOOL. You're acting cocky as if the Yankees are entitled and are automatically given something. They've won nothing and the last few appearances in the WS they've lost.. Also what is so funny about this post?  Great start for Lee. This is what the Phillies do, they make the pitcher go deep in the count. They're already getting to C.C, hopefully that trend continues. ALSO have you never heard an announcer say Touch Em All when a hitters takes one out???? This is EXACTLY why people dislike the Yankees fans like you

I can understand Indian's fans pain. In '07 (i think) the marlins had Dempster on the hill, Pudge behind the plate and Reuben Sierra was up to bat for the yankees.... all three former rangers and in the world series. Made me, as a rangers fan, very sad.

100 pitches for C.C.  He sure did do one better. This is what the Phillies do lol..

Lee pitching a gem. McCarver's an idiot, the left fielder isn't responsible for a ball hit down the first base line. I thought that'd be obvious.

That catch by Lee was not nearly as hilarious as McCarver made it out to be.

McCarver made it sound like "look how un-nerved Lee is out there pitching in his 1st WS" If you couldn't tell by now he was un-nerved you might as well turn it off and go to bed. These announcers talk to the viewers at home like we're baseball illiterate.

as much as i hate the Yankees and their palacial stadium the seventh inning ceromony is one of the most emotional moments in sports....what happened to the eagle they used to have fly in?

Or is it Rowland Tenor I'm not sure but that guy has a set of pipes

LOL this is EXACTLY what I was saying. They go deep in the count and are EXTREMELY patient at the dish. This was the same recipe they used against the Dodgers and we all know the outcome of that.

These analysts/pundits think throwing 95 MPH is a big deal. Fact of the matter is if you don't locate the pitches the speed is worthlees. Besides that the faster they come in the faster they go out.

Cliff Lee is DEALIN' tonight!  Hopefully this inspires Pedro!

Every out Cliff Lee gets, 50 Clevelanders jump into the Cuyahoga River, which then catches fire.

More entertaining than the New Yorkers' reaction of yelling something unintelligible, and then anxiously proclaiming their belief that the Yanks will win the next 4

So much for their Billion Dollar Ballpark and 200 Million dollar Payroll. The Yankees have been stymied

It may well be a contributing factor towards there not being a Game 7

My hat is off to Lee and Utley.  The Phillies really took it to the Yankees tonight.  I know that the Yankees are damned if they do and damned if they don't.  Have fun with it while you can.  The Yankees are gonna rock Pedro right off the mound tomorrow night.
