World Series Game 2 Live Thread: Philadelphia Phillies vs New York Yankees
Will The Yankees Be Able To Make Pedro Their Daddy? [World Series Game 2 Live Thread]
Pedro Martinez has had quite a bit of history with the New York Yankees, and he's hoping to make a little more history tonight, when he pitches for the Phillies against those same Yankees in Game 2 of the World Series.

Last night, Cliff Lee was virtually unhittable, and nearly shut out the Yanks in one of the most dominant performances we've seen in a long time. Pedro will hope to duplicate that, but his days as one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball are behind him, so it might not be the case.

The opposing pitcher will be AJ Burnett, who has shown flashes of brilliance for the Yankees, but has been a little inconsistent.

61% of FanIQ users predicted the Yankees will win tonight. But then again, 66% picked them last night, and they lost. If you're watching the game (7:57 pm ET on FOX), then chat it up here. As always, enjoy the game!

Burnett needs to mix his pitches up, how many first pitch fastballs is he going to throw before Philly readjusts and makes him pay?

A.J. just pitched 1 of his best games as a Yankee. He stepped up big time, had it not been for A-Rod's miscue, it would've been 3-0 right now.

The Phillies are hitting tonight like the Yankees were last night.

Phils are gonna have to take care of business at home this weekend!

Another night of bad umpiring.  This series looks like it might go 7 games.

They didn't "spank" him off anything. Don't be one of those obnoxious Yankees fans who think it's their god given right to automatically be thrust into the World Series. This was a true pitchers duel! Just like lastnight, these were TWO of the finest games baseball and fans have seen in quite sometime, I don't care who you root for. This series thus far has been GREAT for baseball, especially after the humongous "black eye" the sport has been given. The Yankees are in this series because they're the BEST in the A.L. The Phillies are here not only because they're the BEST in the N.L. but also because they BEAT the BEST there was last year in ALL of baseball. Congrats to Yankee fans tonight, to the victor go the spoils, enjoy it. When Saturday gets here you're playing as an N.L. team no DL so it'll be an entirely different ball game.

Um!! Did I say anything about the Yanks thinking it their right to be THRUST into the Series?! I didn't hear that! I think their record of 103 wins THRUST them into the Series. If ya noticed Pedro enjoyed it, he walked off with a smile on his face. With that said! I agree with you this is Awesome baseball by two really good teams. I love it when games are close like this. And I look forward to a few more of the same.

This comment right here "yup!! spanked him right off the field." You imply as though the Yankees handily beat Pedro Martinez when in fact they did not. It's also an act of cockiness. So basically you said and implied things without exactly saying them.

That last statement was just stupid! "So basically you said and implied things without exactly saying them." What the Heck is that. Those that know me, Know that I don't beat around the bush, and SAY EXACTLY WHAT I MEAN! Now, if you had wanted to. You could have stated that Philly Spanked Sabathia off the field last nite, and I would have agreed with you. I wouldn't have bashed you on that. The fact of the matter is, it was meant to imply as you put it! That they gave him a run for his money!! I don't feel I was being cocky at all. Just a die hard Sports Fan pumped up after an Awesome Game. And if the truth be said You sound like a Sore Loser! So get over it already.

Oh be quiet, already!  They beat him and that's what counts.  And thank you for telling us that the games in the NL are different because we would have never figured it out.

LOL when I want your two cents I'll break your piggy bank and take it. Atleast you wont see Phillies fans leaving the stadium in the 7th inning of any game let alone the WS when OUR team is down 6, that's classic Dodger fan mentality. We can also go see a game without paying $2500 for a good seat, LOL anymore Yankees fans have become bandwagon fans. Love your team only when they're winning, Philadelphia fans have stuck by and continue to do so regardless if OUR teams are winnning or losing.
