Xavi Hernandez extends Barcelona contract along with Messi and Puyol
Xavi Hernandez is set to stay at Barcelona for years to come. The 33-year-old Spain international, who has made over 650 appearances for the Spanish football giants, has inked an extension contract following Lionel Messi and Carles Puyol’s pledge to the Barcelona cause.
The world class attacking midfielder is now set to stay at Nou Camp till 2016 after putting pen on paper for a two-year contract with Barcelona. Xavi Hernandez sealed the deal with Barcelona President Sandro Rosell, Vice President Josep Maria Bartomeu and Football Director Andoni Zubizarreta on Monday.
In an interview after signing the new contract, Xavi Hernandez said “this where I want to be” in the future. The Spaniard also confessed that Barcelona had always been his first choice no matter what.
Xavi Hernandez humbly admitted that there were a dozen other players who could play in his position at the club, which is why he is thankful for Barcelona to trust in his abilities. Xavi Hernandez also thanked his childhood club for remaining loyal and caring.

The midfield maestro made his debut in the football world with Barcelona in 1998 and since then has capped more than 650 times in Barcelona’s first-team.
The Spaniard has won over 20 major trophies in his tenure with Barcelona which include two Club World Cups, three Champions League trophies, two European Supercups, six La Liga titles, two Copas del Rey and five Spanish Supercups.
