Sunday's MLB roundup ...With just 12 games to play, I can't fathom Boston or Cleveland relinquishing their respective leads, but stranger things have happened.
Yankees 4, Red Sox 3 Jeter, Jeter, Jeter, Jeter, Jeter, Jeter, Jeter, Jeter. Yes, Derek hit the game winning home run, he is God. Here's a good reason to give the Yankees a chance to catch up to Boston, but almost assuredly clinch the wild card. Final schedule: vs Bal, vs Tor (4), @ TB, @ Bal. Although Boston's isn't much more difficult.
Tigers 6, Twins 4 Won 5 straight, and now have 3 against Cleveland. Jim Leyland working some magic remains a possibility. Still 2 1/2 back of the Yankees.
Phillies 10, Mets 6 New York's fielding not endorsed by Fred McGriff.
Cubs 4, Cards 2 I should remain focused on more important accomplishments, but it's a relief to say good night to St. Louis. Cubs remaining schedule is a little easier than the Brewers, but we know how the Cubs play against bad teams.
Congrats to Jim Thome. 500 HR the honest way.
