Mandatory Credit: Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY SportsThere are lots of reports coming out of Florida on this Monday about some not very nice things that Yasiel Puig said in the clubhouse. As one reporter tweeted:

Yasiel Puig was in the visitors clubhouse here at #Marlins Park & looked at us gathered there and yelled, "F**K the media" and left the room

However, this seems like yet another case of people in the media just plain not liking Puig and looking for a reason to hate on a guy who is still getting used to the American media.

Ramona Shelburn of ESPN gave a more unbiased account of how things went down, tweeting:

For the record, I was in the clubhouse when Puig said what he said. It was in jest and not addressed to anyone specifically.

He wasnt thrilled with having to do a 20-minute press conference, but he did it.

— Ramona Shelburne (@ramonashelburne) August 19, 2013

Honestly, I laughed when he said it and forgot about it until folks started asking about it on Twitter

Puig was basically venting to a couple teammates about some of the reports about him hanging with LeBron last night.

— Ramona Shelburne (@ramonashelburne) August 19, 2013

He was within earshot of a clubhouse full of reporters who speak Spanish

— Ramona Shelburne (@ramonashelburne) August 19, 2013

@LBSports he said something nasty, an equally offensive phrase, but I didn't think it was directed at anyone particular

Should Puig have said that? No. But he's not the first person who has said something like that, and he won't be the last.

People are already making a big deal about Puig going out with Matt Kemp in Miami, and he's probably tired of all of this attention that he's not used to. Does it come with the territory? Absolutely, but it's also important to keep in mind that there's a big learning curve with him.

Be patient, and stop blowing things out of proportion.
