The 2013 starters for the All-Star game were announced Thursday evening for the Eastern and Western Conferences.  This year the players are not divvied up by the traditional five positions, but only two:  backcourt players and frontcourt players.
This year’s Eastern Conference starters are:
  1. LeBron James
  2. Carmelo Anthony
  3. Kevin Garnett
  4. Dwyane Wade
  5. Rajon Rondo
This year’s Western Conference starters are:
  1. Kobe Bryant
  2. Chris Paul
  3. Kevin Durant
  4. Blake Griffin
  5. Dwight Howard
Kobe Bryant was the leading vote getter once again this year and Jeremy Lin was surprisingly not voted in as the starting point guard for the Western Conference.  There was some speculation that Lin would be voted into the All-Star game through the International votes and because the All-Star game is in Houston this year.  However, Lin fell right behind Bryant and Paul as the third leading vote getter in the Western Conference backcourt.  Unfortunately, there are only two starting backcourt positions for the All-Star game and the coaches vote for the reserves, so Lin fans may have to wait and see Jeremy Lin participating in another event during All-Star weekend if they want to see him.  But it won’t be in the All-Star game.
