Let me first of all say I like Profootballtalk.com. It's a great site, and a lot of their rumors wind up being true. But this one I think is a bit out there. On Yahoo! Sports, they're suggesting that Brady Quinn should do whatever it takes to get traded to the Packers.
Profootballtalk.com predicts that Quinn (or, at a minimum, his agent) will be clamoring to join Rodgers' current team, the Green Bay Packers.
Quite frankly, this doesn't make any sense to me at all. Why not try and force a trade to a team that, you know, doesn't have a quarterback at all - like Miami. It's also ridiculous to think Quinn would have any real chance of starting ahead of Rodgers for at least another year. Rodgers has spent three years learning from one of the best modern day pro quarterbacks and Rodgers knows the Green Bay offense cold. Quinn would be starting from scratch if he moved there.
It's also like Profootballtalk is forgetting that Rodgers was a first round pick. I watched Rogers play at Cal on a weekly basis. He was at least as good as Quinn, and more accurate in my opinion. Rodgers was also in the same boat as Quinn. He was expected to be drafted much higher than where he was (24th). Quinn was only selected two spots above him.
Quite honestly, Quinn is really starting to piss me off. He never won a big game in college, he wasn't all that accurate, he wasn't even drafted all that high, and he expects to play now. At least Rodgers kept his mouth shut and paid his dues. For that alone he should definitely get the nod over anyone else in Green Bay, including Quinn, even if he wound up there.
Remember that game this past year where Favre sucked against the Cowboys and went out with an injury? Rodgers came in and completed 18 passes for 201 yards and a TD. He also rallied the team from a 17-point deficit to within 3 - even though they lost by 10. Has Quinn done that yet? Nope, and yet he's still appearing in tons of commercials. What a joke.
So anyway, as far as I'm concerned, this rumor doesn't seem to make much sense. Quinn should try and force a trade to somewhere where he'll actually play. Then we can all enjoy watching him suck.
