As we all know hockey can be a very dangerous sport. With pucks flying around at 90 mph, sticks and bodies flying, and sharp blades inches away from players, injuries are going to happen.
Richard Zednik was cut in the throat during the game earlier against the Florida Panthers. Teammate Olli Jokinen was upended behind the net, and as he landed headfirst on the ice, his skate whacked Zednik in the neck. He immediatley rushed to the bench covering his neck and was taking to the locker room. The game was delayed 15 minutes, and after the referee talking with the Panthers coach, and Sabres GM spoke with NHL vice president Colin Campbell, the game resumed. Zednik is in stable condition at a local Buffalo hospital. Hopefully there is more good new the come.
