With the fifth pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions selected Ezekial "Ziggy" Ansah.

Ansah, who referred to his body as a "delicate flower" before joining the BYU football team in 2010, is new to the sport, but you wouldn't be able to tell that by watching him on film. He is a physical specimen (6'5", 271 lbs.) with speed (4.63 40), strength (21 reps of 225 on the bench press) and surprisingly good technique.

With Cliff Avril, the team leader in sacks, now a Seahawk and Kyle Vanden Bosch’s production dropping as he gets older, pass rush was a need for Detroit.  The interior of the defensive line, Feb 25, 2013; Indianapolis, IN, USA; Brigham Young Cougars defensive lineman Ezekiel Ansah participates in a defensive drill during the NFL Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium. With one of the league’s most potent offenses, a 4-12 was a huge disappointment for the Lions, who still have holes to fill on the roster. For years, they’ve needed to establish a running game to complement their passing.  Just imagine how dangerous Calvin Johnson could be if opposing defenses had to account for the run and occasionally put an extra guy in the box.

And they currently have only seven offensive linemen on the roster so they should add some depth at tackle and guard to help fortify a running game and make sure Stafford can stay upright.
