Milwaukee Brewers Fan Goes Homeless For His Team After Losing A Bet

Going Homeless For The Brewers

I'm sure at some point in all our lives, we've all lost a bet where we had to pay for it in spades. I remember I once had to run around the outside of a house naked in the middle of winter because I said I'd win a game that I didn't.

But as bad as that was, it's nothing compared to this. A Brewers fan and a Phillies fan, who both live in DC, made a bet about which team would finish the 2007 season with more wins. Obviously, the Brewers fan lost. And his penalty for this lost bet?

Live homeless on the streets of DC for a full week.

Yikes. Now, I lived in DC for two years once. This is NOT a city you want to be homeless in. Hell, you don't even want to live there. But the Brewers fan, Chris Jollay, went through the whole thing just this past week since he'd finally accumulated enough vacation time to do it...and he survived. Quite a vacation, indeed.
According to the bet, Jollay was allowed to carry one bag of items. Christman (the Phillies fan) approved all of the items. Jollay says he carried 12 power bars and 100-calorie snacks, a disposable camera, $20 dollars, contact lens, a marker and pen, and a bottle of Jack Daniels.

"I brought a big bottle of that, just to pass the time. Especially when it was cold...made the nights go faster."
Yes, Jack will always help with that. By the way, he also was forced to wear a Pokemon backpack. And if you want, you can read all about his cold, drunken week here.

Now, I'm sure you're wondering, what would have happened Jollay actually won the bet?
"I would have gotten to move in with [Christman's] wife. She'd have to cook me dinner and I'd go to her slumber parties and [Christman would] move into my place," Jollay says.
Hmmm. I might be going out on a limb here, but I don't think Jollay got a real fair shake here.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go run naked around a house.

Did he really think it was a good idea to bet on the Brewers to do something good?  He'd been better off betting on the Cubs to win the World Series.

I don't know, with the Cubs that bet could be a push.  How about betting which Brewer fails to fit into his uniform first Sabathia or Fielder?
