playing in an online poker tourney on espn poker club..

slightly over the starting stack so far, about 40 minutes in.

wanted to try out this blog feature..

happy birthday edspeshel...

had a nice little flurry of awards the last few days..  including getting to 6000.      in my top 10 friends, they list awards in one of the columns..  wish there was a seperate column for awards earned by polls and faniq points as opposed to awards for polling and thumbs up, etc.

thank goodness for rocky.. and dodge..  for their polls...   it is a nice change of pace at times..  and thank you gogo for often giving us the name and background of some of rocky's girls.   it adds a nice extra dimension..

well, have last a few hundred since I started writing this.. but oh well.

I miss baseball..     I look forward to this next season and watching the cubs again..  

just won a few chips with pocket kings..    then promptly lost even more when my pair of aces got outkicked..  now down to a little under 1900 (start with 2500)...

it was awesome to see kathster return on here..  had missed getting her perspectative on some of these polls..

man-- just got milked for some more chips.. luckily avoided losing TOO much given my hand..  down to 1200 now.

I wonder if much of anyone will read this..    will be interesting to see who does... and who admits it.   of course, quality of readers matters more to me than quantity.

this feature might be interesting...   will have to see what comes of it.. would love if some of the people I look for analysis from start using this so I could read their thoughts without needing to pester them for it.

I hope fukudome becomes the sparkplug the cubs have needed at the top of their order to get on-base and set the table for the middle of the order..   I know soriano likes to bat leadoff and seems to do better in that spot-- but hopefully he can translate his game to middle of the order without changing his approach in some way that reduces his effectiveness.

I wonder whether the cubs reall will get Brian Roberts.  and if so, wehether they will do so at a price that won't make me flinch when I hear it.

made it to the 1 hour break in the tourney..   down to 1000 in chips.. but still alive, which is good since half the field is gone. 

back from break--   picked up pocket 5's, got a nice looking flop for me based on what thought opponent had and was abe to get him to fold.. back up to 1450.

Blackhawks seem better.. man, it would be nice to see them slip into the playoffs..    might not happen and they might not make much noise if they do..  but then again, if your goalie catches absolute fire in the playoffs, starnge and wonderful things can happen for awhile.    but an appearance would still seem like a great step forward.

just picked up pocket 8's..  got nice flop, got opponent to fold.. up to 2000 but blinds are now on me..

big blind-- pocket 4's.. but someone pushed hard and someone else called so I got out of the way..   and flop would have turned out fairly bad for me anyway.   then small blind was 7-2 so I am now down to 1750.

my alma mater is now 4-0 (including wins AT Creighton and Wichita State which are good home-court advantages for their schools) in the missouri valley for men's basketball and 12-3 overall..   I am cautiously excited so far.

also, the women's program is 12-1 on the season with their only loss being to nationally ranked Depaul by 5 points.   I am even more optimistic for them.   wish more people watched and cared about women's sports...   it is easy to care when your team consistently kicks major butt like Rocky's Lady Vols do..   but not just the extreme elite deserve fans and love. 

blinds came around again..  down to 1450 now.

just picked up pocket aces one hand before blinds--  raised the minimum..   still got everyone folding--   and now the 2 blind hands just took away that gain so back to 1450.

I suppose I ought to submit this and see if I did it right.
