Make no mistake, I'm not a supporter of 4 division Leagues. But yes. It is, along with all the problems that go along with that, still better than letting 2nd and 3rd place teams in the post season. I'm just very happy that when the Giants won a World Series they did it as a division winner.
Right I remember you saying that, you were were saying baseball need to go to that. A time back you had mention it was better then the wild card, and I was not that crazy about it the, but now I know I would go along with it compare to what we now have. I know you are with the Tigers winning tonight hopefully it will be a Tigers-Giants World Series.

Very true, I did not like your idea of the four divisions, but that idea makes way more sense then having a wild card team(s) and game. At least then only first place teams would be going for the championship, as you had stated before. To bad baseball and Selig will not go there.

Which is why many still feel the post season should only be open to teams that actually finish the season in first place. A shot at the World Series is the prize for it. 2nd place shouldn't be rewarded with the same thing first place gets after 162 games.

You are missing the point that is being made. The 55-107 Houston Astros could make it this far in the play-offs and even to the World Series if we open the wild card to every team. Being the worst team in the Majors and winning the WS would not mean they earned it, instead they just got hot at the right time.

Okay tired of talking about this subject since I keep get jumped on by everyone. If you scrolled down to the original comment you will see that I was responding to ML31 comment's about the Cards not deserving any respect for being in the playoffs. My response to ML31 was:
The Giants should have no problem beating this undeserving wild card team and win the NLCS. My final response was a typo in the way I worded the sentence I did not mean to say the better team should be the wild card team.
I will continue to say this whether you or anyone else thinks it's foolish or not!
I am merely cheering on a team that I like. That is all.

I cheer my team too. But there are limits. For example (being extreme on purpose to make a point) if my team won a title of some sort because the other team perished in a bus accident, you won't see me jumping up and down being excited about a title they just "won".

Just asking if they were the better team why didn't the Cardinals win the the NLC??? They had 162 games to prove they were the best in the NLC and did't. so I would have to say yes it is foolish. Just as the Giants were not the best team ini the NFL last season but they won the Super Bowl.

Very possible. Although I wouldn't consider that something to be happy about. In fact, I'd be downright embarrassed about it. I'm just not an ends justify the means kind of person.

They didn't win their division. Why should they get any slack? You may feel it's not foolish to think the better team always wins but history has shown that has NOT been the case. Particularly since 1995 the better team has more often than not failed to win their playoff series. With the larger sized playoff field it is less about what team is better and more about what team is on a better roll at the time. Case in point, in 2010 the Giants were certainly not better than the Phils. But the Giants were just firing on all cylinders at the time. At least the Giants were legitimate division winners...

It was a faux World Series last year as the Cards were a 2nd place team and didn't earn it. When the Giants won in 2010 they were a legitimate division winner. So your history point is moot. Next, it is foolish to say the better team should beat the wild card team. This is baseball. Even the worst teams win 4 out of 10. And if you get them at a time when they are playing decently even the best teams will lose a series to the lesser team. So your other point is moot as well because no matter what happens in this series it doesn't change the fact that as a 2nd place team the Cards have no business being in the post season. Just like in 2011.

Let's show them why were here!!!!!
We all know why the Cards are there. Because back in 1993 owners decided to let teams who don't win into the playoffs.

Come on Giants I need you knock the wild card team out. Make the World Series prevalent.
