Thanks!! Every time someone talks about it, I get all excited again!!

spartymon wrote: Sorry Ashlie... if you are fan of Brett Favre, I do apologize. However, for some to think my comment meant that I wanted to see him suffer great bodily harm or even worse are simply over-analyzing my comment.

Do I take joy in watching Big Man Suh punish the opposing QBs... most certainly! I am not going to deny that - it has been a long time since the Lions have had a guy that could put the fear of god into the other team (I hope this comment doesn't once again mean I am wishing harm). Do I enjoy it when one of my players lays a big hit on an opponent. Heck yeah... so does most everyone else in the stadium! Does that mean I am some "over-the-hill beer-saturated arsehole". No, and frankly, I am bit offended by that comment. I have been a member of FanIQ for a long time and have never been personally attacked or generalized in such a manner... supposedly, I am the "social immature" one, but who has resorted to name-calling? Hmmm... Kinda interesting.

As a Lions fan, I have never been a big fan of Brett Favre - he has beaten my boys far too many times for me to count. It would have been nice to have him finish his career against the Lions and I for one, certainly would have like to see him try to get away from the Lions newly rebuilt defensive front four one last time before he retired. I knew he wasn't going to play - that is partly why I posted what I did. As for the part of limping off into the sunset... I really was simply trying to create an image of a feeble old man well past his prime finally walking away from the game. Mr NorseHeathen may think I am trying to backpedal and that's fine... apparently, I am some kind of evil person who can't live up to his high moral and social standing anyway. If FanIQ still had those little emoticons, I would have posted the little guy laughing after my original comment to emphaze that I was not intending the comment to be taken at face-value.

In any event, to all Brett Favre fans out there, if it would help for me to apologize to you... I will - I have a lot of friends on this site and would hate to offend any of them. Therefore, am I glad he didn't play on Sunday, no - I wanted him to play. Am I glad that Big Man Suh wasn't able to greet him and shake his hand before trying to tackle him... no - Suh may turn into one of the most dominant players of this next decade - it would have been nice to have him play against one of the most dominant offensive players of the last decade. However, if my original comment offended you or so many others on this site, I am sorry.

As for apologizing to Mr. NorseHeathen... Nope - he can think of me however he wants, but I feel no need to apologize to him. Maybe he can turn me into some psychoanalytical case study. :-P

I will end by saying... I do like the new direction the Lions seem to be headed and look forward to Fall 2011 when they should finally be able to compete for the NFC North title, assuming the owners and players are able to settle their differences. Hopefully, the days of the Lions being the cellar-dwellers are over.

Go Lions!
I AM a Favre fan forever, and in general the bashing doesn't bother me because I try to understand everyone else's issue with him. The only time I do get upset is when people get into the hurt him, kill him thing. I've wished for ankle issues to MANY players for game time purposes, but never anything serious, and it just bugs when people go that far but I do appreciate the apology, but I'm okay. I have to have thick skin to be a Favre fan. I really was just trying to offer a little insight into why Norse was upset. :D

ROFL.....he wanted to take the gloves off, and put mittens on..... This is the type of commentary I've witnessed for the past two years--people "hating" another individual for superficial reasons and using such as a mechanism to institute adversity. Then when addressed as such, rationalization follows. I can understand someone whose life is practically over being a jerk because they're pissed-off at the world for their own pathetic nature and little time in which to accomplish something meaningful. Such individuals need to vicariously live through superficial perceptions and self-deluded accomplishment through the success and accomplishment of others they may or may not even know. However, it is the mindset that is behind such comments that is a factor in the degradation of the general mindset that is a factor for many adversities in life. Don't pat yourself on the back, you're not alone--unfortunately in this case you're in the vast majority. You can minimize such observations to "it's just a football game" or whatever else; however, I guarantee you will go out and see various situations and think about what I have said. It doesn't take a Rhodes Scholar to observe and recognize various psycho-social traits and adversities that are affecting our modern culture--this is only one microscopic example of such. However, this is a sports forum and people come in to enjoy themselves and should be able to do so without some over-the-hill beer-saturated arsehole, or others who want to shoot their mouths off at the success to which they themselves have nothing to do with so they can beat their chests with the illusion of having power over another. How sad it is for all of us that some people choose to be of a lesser social mindset, and general disregard for something so simple as general courtesy or the establishment of mutual respect--people sure as Helheimr try to demand it though which is equally as funny.

Thanks Lee.... It's frustrating when people who are fans of the game have to deal with such banter. I've contacted a few of the Viking trolls in private chat to express my displeasure with their provocations as well. Personally, I've enjoyed a great amount of the conversation this year, and thank those who have participated.

As for wishing harm, read the post to which I originally responded, there's no denying it. Personally, the one thing I'm regretful for this year is that Matt Stafford was injured. You see, I love the game of football; and the more competitive the games, the more I enjoy it. Football is also a brutal sport. People do get injured, but only those people that wish for situations whereas people get hurt during the process are those whose social immaturity also is the mindset for those who create a great deal of the problems facing our society. People can say, 'well, this isn't how I really am as a person', but the fact is that how an individual interacts in any forum (direct or not) is a reflection of who they are in life.
On behalf of my fellow Lions fans you have my apologies Kjartan. Hope a few "sore winners" don't taint your view of all Lions fans.

I liked at how fast he ran off the field when the game was over... he thought Big Man Suh was after him!!!

The Bears are over-rated and the Lions have a decent schedule next year. With a few more good offseason moves and assuming there is no strike/lockout, the Lions should be right in the thick of things in the NFC North next season!

Go Lions!!!

On the other hand, it was a very very dissapointing season for Viking fans, keep the defense together keep coach Frazier and get a quarterback, hopefully McNabb and the Vikes will be Kings of the NFC north again. See ya next year Viking fans
I think they are a few players away (the Lions). They need a true LT, maybe one LB for depth, and a shutdown corner. These all can be answered in the off season.
