No you don't, 4 man rotations were normal for a lot of years. How do you think Cy Young managed to win 511 games while losing 316 in 22 years? That didn't come from a 5-man rotation.

They have one of their other starters on the 15 day DL, so this is an option. They have already tried at least 3 rookie starters so far this year.

If I am part of the Angels coaching staff I leave the starting rotation as it is without bringing any one back to pitch with less days of rest just to confront the Rangers because you have more games to play for the next 5 weeks fans

I watched the Angels telecast last night and they were talking about Santana and Weaver might pitch on 3 days rest meaning the Rangers would face all 3 aces. I like that idea for a couple of reasons, obviously because those 3 pitchers always give the Angels a great chance to win but also because it gives them a chance to adjust to pitching on shorter rest if they make the post-season.
