By Sports Network
Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Dwyane Wade finished with 32 points and Jermaine O'Neal recorded a double-double, as the Miami Heat took a 96-83 victory over the Indiana Pacers at Conseco Fieldhouse.
O'Neal ended with 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Heat, who beat the Knicks on Wednesday in their home-opener. Udonis Haslem had 10 points and 10 boards off the bench, while Michael Beasley finished with 12 points and nine rebounds in the victory.
Danny Granger scored 22 for Indiana in its home-opener, but the Pacers are still in search of their first win of the season, having lost to Atlanta on Wednesday.
Troy Murphy ended with 12 points and 13 boards in the setback, while Solomon Jones and Luther Head each scored 12 off the bench.
Miami set the tone with a strong first quarter, ending the frame with nine consecutive points for a 28-16 lead.
But the Pacers chipped away, and a Granger basket followed by a Head three- pointer pulled them within 39-36 with 4 1/2 minutes left in the first half. Indiana got a free throw from T.J. Ford and a jumper from Dahntay Jones to end the second quarter, trimming Miami's lead to 49-47 at the break.
However, the Heat pulled away again at the outset of the third quarter, which O'Neal began with consecutive baskets. A few minutes later, a jumper from O'Neal started an eight-point burst to push the Miami lead to double digits.
Beasley followed O'Neal's basket with a dunk and ended the run with a layup to make it a 65-51 game.
O'Neal sank two free throws with a little more than three minutes left in the third to give the Heat a game-high lead of 17, at 74-57, and they took a 79-63 advantage into the fourth.
Granger sank a three with under four minutes left to bring the Pacers within 87-79, but Wade countered with a jumper and the Heat cruised the rest of the way.
