Recap: Pittsburgh vs. Fair-Dickinson

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - DeJuan Blair scored 17 points and raked in 13 rebounds, and the fifth-ranked Pittsburgh Panthers routed Fairleigh Dickinson, 86-63, in the season-opener for both clubs.
Sam Young scored 15 points and Levance Fields had 15 points and eight assists for the Panthers (1-0), who hope to improve on last season, which ended in a double-digit loss to Michigan State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Eric Moore scored 17 points to lead the Knights (0-1) of the Northeast Conference, who fell to 5-59 all-time against Big East opponents. John Galvin scored 14 points and Alvin Mofunanya scored 13 points for Fairleigh Dickinson.
The Panthers established dominance early, opening the game with a 16-2 run, capped by a Young jumper with 13:40 left in the first half. Pitt led 45-29 at the intermission, and the outcome was never in doubt in the second half as the Panthers rolled to an easy season-opening win.
