By Sports Network
Eugene, OR (Sports Network) - Tajuan Porter scored a game-high 28 points to lift the Oregon Ducks to a 75-70 win over the Kansas State Wildcats as part of the Big 12/Pac-10 Hardwood Series at McArthur Court.
Also scoring in double figures for the Ducks (4-4) were Garrett Sim and LeKendric Longmire with 16 and 13 points, respectively, as the squad snapped a three-game slide.
The Wildcats (5-3) were paced by Denis Clemente and his 19 points on 8-of-20 shooting from the floor, followed by Jamar Samuels (14 points), Ron Anderson (12) and Fred Brown (10) in the team's third straight setback after opening 2008-09 with five consecutive victories.
KSU knocked down just 4-of-13 shots from three-point range and 40.6 percent from the field in the first half, yet still played well enough to record a 38-35 advantage at the break.
In the second half the Wildcats missed all six of their three-point tries, compared to 5-of-7 for Oregon as the home team secured the five-point win.
Kansas State won the battle of the boards, 39-28, but 21.1 percent shooting behind the three-point line and 20 turnovers proved to be too costly.
The Ducks picked up the win despite playing without top rebounders Michael Dunigan (14.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg) and Joevan Catron (9.4 ppg, 8.3 rpg).
