Williams' one-yard scoring run and a three-yard Taylor-to-Smith connection in the first quarter gave Virginia Tech the early 14-point advantage.
Ferrara split the uprights from 36 yards away early in the second to get Maryland on the board at 14-3.
Taylor threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Roberts, then found Boykin for a 64- yard score later in the second period, and the Hokies took a 27-3 lead into the half.
In the third quarter, Waldron drilled a 21-yard field goal with just over three minutes left, and he added a 28-yard effort in the early stages of the fourth for a 30-point advantage.
Harrell's fumble recovery in the end zone with 11:25 to play made it a 33-9 game after the two-point conversion failed. Waldron then connected from 34 yards out with 5:52 remaining to account for the final score.
