Recap: Denver vs. Kansas City
By Sports Network
Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Jay Cutler threw for 286 yards and two touchdowns, leading Denver to a comeback 24-17 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs and putting the Broncos in excellent position to win the AFC West.
With the win, Denver (8-5) now needs either a win in any of its three remaining games or a San Diego loss to clinch the division. The Chargers currently stand at 5-8 after a victory over the Raiders on Thursday, but face a tall task if they are to overtake the Broncos. The two teams square off in the final week of the season, at San Diego.
Cutler completed 32-of-40 passes and threw one interception for the Broncos, who have won two straight since a home defeat to Oakland. Brandon Marshall caught 11 passes for 91 yards and two scores, while Peyton Hillis ran for 58 yards and a touchdown.
Tony Scheffler had 61 yards receiving for a Denver offense that managed 425 total yards and 9-of-14 third down conversions.
Tyler Thigpen threw for 187 yards and a touchdown on 17-of-32 passing for the Chiefs (2-11), who had beaten the Broncos earlier in the season. Dwayne Bowe caught seven passes for 96 yards, while Tony Gonzalez had 73 receiving yards and a touchdown in the loss. Larry Johnson was held to just 36 yards on 11 carries, as the Kansas City offense was held to 260 total yards.
