Recap: Jacksonville vs. Kansas City
By Sports Network
Jacksonville, FL (Sports Network) - David Garrard threw for 264 yards and a touchdown, and Maurice Jone-Drew added 97 yards rushing with a score, as the Jaguars held on for a 24-21 win over the Kansas City Chiefs at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium.
Garrard completed 18 of 27 pass attempts, while Mike Sims-Walker turned in a fantastic performance with six catches for 147 yards and a TD for Jacksonville (4-4), which rebounded nicely from an embarrassing 30-13 loss at Tennessee last Sunday. The Jaguars have won four of their last six after opening the season 0-2. Rashad Jennings added a 28-yard scoring run.
Matt Cassell finished 23-of-39 passing with 262 yards and a pair of scores, while recently signed Chris Chambers had three grabs for 70 yards and with two touchdowns for the Chiefs (1-7), who had a bye last week, but suffered a 37-7 setback at the hands of San Diego on October 25. Kansas City's only win of the season came on October 18 at Washington.
Dwayne Bowe and Lance Long each had 74 yards receiving on four and eight catches, respectively. Ryan Succop nailed a pair of field goals in defeat.
Running back Larry Johnson did not play while serving out the second game of a two-week suspension from coach Todd Haley for conduct detrimental to the team.
According to reports, Johnson called Haley out in a Twitter post before using a pair of gay slurs on his Twitter profile, and, a day later, to a group of reporters.
