Recap: St. Louis vs. New Orleans

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Drew Brees threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns, and the New Orleans Saints remained perfect by holding off the feisty St. Louis Rams with a 28-23 win at the Edward Jones Dome.

Brees completed 18-of-26 passes and was also intercepted twice for the Saints (9-0), who have now surpassed last season's win total and extended the best start in franchise history. Reggie Bush ran for 83 yards and a score on six carries and added a receiving touchdown in the win.

Devery Henderson led the receiving corps with 72 yards on four catches, and Courtney Roby returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown.

The Saints now hold a commanding four-game lead in the NFC South after the Falcons fell to the Panthers on Sunday.

Steven Jackson ran for 131 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries for the Rams (1-8), who were coming off their lone win of the season against Detroit two weeks ago. Jackson also caught nine passes for 45 yards in defeat, St. Louis' ninth straight at home.

Marc Bulger threw for 298 yards with two touchdowns and one interception on 26-of-40 passing, while rookie Brandon Gibson had 93 receiving yards on seven receptions.

I think the Saints have the first chance in the franchise history to actually go all the way.  Drew Brees is so right on with his ability to pick and choose whoever he wants to receive.  Our defense is the strongest I remember and I have been a devoted fan since 1967.  Geaux Saints!!!  Who dat say they gonna beat them Saints?????

Yeah, I know, Who dat, especially the hapless Rams right? uh, wasnt the Panthers leading last Sunday? I've been giving warnings since about the 3rd or 4th game of the season, dont take ANY team lightly. Do I think the Rams will win? NO, but can they giving the right situation? yes.
The come back thing is starting to be a habit, SURE I'm glad they're winning, i'm ecstatic!!! but, cautious, i'm just saying. Other than that, the Saints are going to STEAM ROLL this team!!! Saints might score 50 points....Uh, half kidding.
I think Saints need 6 more wins and I think they can start relaxing a bit, using a couple second stringers, and reserving the golden players. Unless the Falcons are to close in the division.

This is a good game for the Saints offense to get back their rhythm. The past 3 games (Mia, Atl, Car) we've started slow with 3-and-outs and turnovers and put us in a hole. I like seeing a Breesus comeback sometimes, but I would prefer sitting on a 28 point lead and not having to stress this Sunday. Let's come out strong and not play down to the competition this time against the Rams. Geaux Saints!

We are supporting our team, the problem is that we got tooooo many haters always wanna act like it's impossible for da Saints to do this well and we gotta speak up for our boys!!! We're getting insulted and disrepected even we we win.....what's up with that???? I can relate to what you are saying cause I am hearing the Rams disrespected every day(no doubt their play right now is warranting it). ALOT of the comments above werent anything about sticking up for the Saints, they were about making fun of the Rams. I dont agree with that and never will! Saints are a fine team, and  I am glad the Rams gave them a good game.

I dont think the Rams will EVER be made fun of as much as the Saints were for about 2 decades, 20 years, the bag heads, yes, that started with the Saints. The media would even crack jokes, these were supposed to be professionals, they acted like little kids in middle school putting down the nerd in the classroom. CBS especially just dumped on the Saints, the old NFC network. The Rams have a rich history, great coaches, etc. they're having a bad year and the Saints fans are basking in the sun for about the 4th time in their 42 year history. This being the best year so far. All fans of a good team, playing a team having a bad year is going to have some fans to get to having bragging rights, we didnt get to do that much, the Rams have nice shinny badges of Glory for, 60 years? walk a mile in a Saints fans boots for over 40 years. You wont like it.
