Recap: Los Angeles vs. Chicago

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Derek Armstrong scored the go-ahead goal in the third period, as the Los Angeles Kings pulled away for a 5-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Patrick O'Sullivan, Alexander Frolov and Jarret Stoll each finished with a goal and an assist for the Kings, who have won two in a row. Michal Handzus and Kyle Quincey each had two assists for Los Angeles, while Erik Ersberg made 22 saves in the win.

"When you see your teammates smile when you win a game, that's the most important thing," Armstrong said. "We showed maturity today. There were a couple lapses through the game, but we found a way to win and it was a good team effort."

Patrick Sharp and Patrick Kane each had a goal and assist for the Blackhawks, who have lost three in a row following a three-game win streak. Cristobal Huet gave up four goals on 27 shots in the loss.

With the score knotted at 2-2 after two periods, the Kings scored three times in the third to pull away with the win.

Armstrong tallied his first goal of the season at 6:16 to make it a 3-2 contest, and more than seven minutes later Kyle Calder jammed a rebound through Huet's pads on the power play to give the Kings a two-goal advantage.

Chicago emptied the net with more than two minutes still remaining in the contest, leading to O'Sullivan's easy goal with 2:09 on the clock, and LA held on from there.

"I underestimated that team today and we had them right where we wanted them, and halfway through the game we let it slip away," Blackhawks forward Jonathan Toews said. "We thought it was going to be an easy game and it definitely wasn't."

Stoll backhanded a rebound into net from the right side of the crease to open the scoring, just 1:18 into the contest. Chicago evened the game when Sharp fired a narrow-angle shot from the left side past Ersberg midway through the period.

The Blackhawks took a 2-1 lead with a power-play marker from Kane, who one- timed the puck past the LA netminder from the right circle with 4:38 left in the first frame.

Chicago held the lead almost entirely through the second period, but with 1:02 remaining, Frolov knocked in a rebound to tie the game at 2-2.
